I am Cleopas. I only have one story recorded in Scripture, but it’s a good one. It is the evening of the third day. Downcast we return home from Jerusalem and a stranger – a fellow traveller – joined on that Emmaus Road. We approach home and we urge him to stay. Were not our hearts burning within us, while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us? Jesus blew on those last embers of hope, re-kindling them as he opened the scriptures. I’m Thomas. OK so I looked a bit of a fool when Jesus stood before me and I sank to me knees; but it was worth it because I got to be with him forever. The story of my foolishness may make me squirm but it was included in the great story that was written so that all of us here today may believe that Jesus is the Son of God, and that by believing we may have life in his name.
