Simon Carter, The Minister Team

Sharon
Richard and Ruth
Meet the Carters
Simon came to faith in Jesus Christ as a teenager through a church youth group. He says, “Not only did the leaders teach me about God's love but they proved it by their accepting and putting up with
me. I was bowled over by the fact that God knew every little detail about me and still loved me. He loved me so much that He was willing to die for me.”
Simon met his wife, Sharon (who is originally from Northern Ireland), while they were studying at Moorlands Bible College. They have been married for 18 years and joined WEC International, spending over 4 years in church planting ministry in Mexico City. Since leaving WEC in 1997 they lived for 9 years in Northern Ireland where Simon became the Irish Representative for People International, promoting ministry to Muslims. He was challenged by own ministry and hence moved to live in North Africa in 2005.
Simon and Sharon have two children. They adopted Ruth (13) as a tiny baby in Mexico and Richard (9), a British born Pakistani, when he was just nine months old. So they are a truly international family – Simon is English, Sharon is Irish, Ruth is Mexican, Richard is Pakistani. And they are currently living in Spain working with Moroccans.
They have been working as church-planters/ missionaries in Melilla – a Spanish enclave in Morocco. They have been part of a team with an inter-denominational mission. Simon has been running a Christian bookshop, preaching, writing and leading a weekly men's Bible Study. Sharon runs a free nursing clinic and is involved in a weekly women's Bible Study.
Sharon and Simon have always been as involved in missions, both long term and short term. For the past 10 years their home church has been Ards Evangelical Church in Northern Ireland.
We look forward to welcoming Simon, Sharon, Ruth and Richard to Bawtry over the summer and to getting to know them better. We are also delighted to have Simon become our full-time minister and part of the leadership team at BeFC.
“The Carters returned from North Africa in July and aresettling into life in Bawtry during the summer months. There will be a commissioning service for Simon as our new minister on Saturday 5th September.”
