Our journey progressed from Myanmar to Phnom Penh where we visited Jumpah, a stunning work to help families suffering with HIV/AIDS. In a tranquil, purpose-built village setting, they receive a home, care and education. I discovered that the recent increase in the availability of anti-retroviral drugs (ARV’s) in Cambodia is bringing a palpable sense of hope.
I then flew to the remote province of Ratanakiri, in NE Cambodia close to the borders with Laos and
Vietnam where the tribal villages face pressing social problems and land rights issues. ICC (International Cooperation Cambodia) is working to bring practical help and spiritual hope to these people.
The return flight was half full of Montagnard Christian refugees fleeing persecution in Vietnam. Scared, tired and with scant possessions, they were heading under UNHCR escort to a ‘reception centre’ in Phnom Penh and hence repatriation in the West.
Pray for Cambodian churches, missions and NGO’s, working faithfully to bring about lasting change in Christ, to the benefit of the practical, spiritual and economic welfare of the people of this amazing country.
